How to Set Up Medical ID on iPhone
Your Medical ID lets first responders see your blood type, allergies, medications and emergency contacts — without unlocking your phone. Takes two minutes to set up.
How to create your Medical ID
- Open the Health app.
- Tap your profile photo top right.
- Tap Medical ID → Edit.
- Fill in your details: conditions, allergies, blood type, medications, emergency contacts.
- Toggle on Show When Locked — critical step.
- Tap Done.
How emergency services access it
From a locked iPhone: tap Emergency (bottom left of passcode screen), then Medical ID. No passcode needed.
What to include
- Blood type
- Medication allergies
- Current medications (name and dosage)
- Conditions like diabetes, epilepsy, or heart conditions
- Two emergency contacts
- Organ donor status
