The MacBook 12-inch A1534 is Apple's thinnest and lightest MacBook, built around a fanless Core M processor and a single USB-C port that handles charging, data and video output simultaneously. The fanless design means the battery absorbs more thermal load than in vented machines. Combined with frequent charge cycles from portable daily use, capacity degrades noticeably over time. A replacement battery restores the full use-anywhere portability that makes this machine worth keeping.

Signs your MacBook 12" battery may need replacing

The Core M processor in the A1534 is power-efficient, but the lack of active cooling and the compact construction mean the battery works harder than it might appear. Typical symptoms appear between three and five years of regular use.

How to confirm your model

Go to Apple Menu > About This Mac > System Report > Hardware Overview to check your model identifier.

This repair covers: A1534, EMC 2746, 2764, 2991, 3099.

The model number is also printed on the underside of the machine near the hinge. If you are unsure, bring the MacBook in and we will confirm the model before starting any work.

The MacBook 12-inch charges through its single USB-C port. If charging is also intermittent, the port itself may need inspection alongside the battery.
